I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. A story that I don't believe most people know about since this happened after WWII ended. The German people who were residing in Prussia really suffered terrible when they were made to leave their properties and then had to endure the Russians coming in and not only rapping and killing women but sending fathers and sons to Siberia as prisoners. The women and children left were herded into a make shift barn with no provisions but straw to lay on and very little food. The story is just beyond comprehension that civilized people could treat people like this. You will never be the same after reading this true account of little Evelyn Tannehill and how she became an orphan and survived this ordeal for 3 years of her young life.
